I drew this around January or Feb? Anyways, I felt like finishing it up because I need more original designs over at my RedBubble.

That, and I don't have an accurate enough image of Matilda! So here she is, freckled faced, plaid hair and ball jointed. She is definitely one of my favourite characters :)

Matilda and art belong to me!

As a doll thing, I would imagine she wouldn't have nipples. So what exactly are you hiding under that hair...?

Love the shading on the body and the use of plaid on her hair~

Her freckles are so pretty too~

Man, she has a kickass design! I would seriously love to know what inspired you to make her; she's so unique and interesting! x) The freckles are one of my favourite parts in this, mostly because I cannot do freckles without making them look cluttered or whatever. But as usual, your digital painting is gorgeous and I am absolutely envious! I really hope to see more pictures of her in the near future! I'd love to learn a bit about her! (:

Well, I always wanted a character with plaid hair! And then I wanted to make her creepy, and I wanted bangs in her face to hide a giant eye or something. She originally was to have a stitched mouth, or a scarred one but then I decided that having little features, like a little nose and a little mouth would like, bring more attention to her eye! The stomach mouth thing was actually inspired and drawn by a blog I follow, called "FuckYeahMonsterGirls", which one month when they first started, was just a ton of mouths and eyes in places they didn't belong! So I can't take credit for the giant toothy mouth xD Many people have done it before!

And thank you SO so much! My secret with freckles is to take the rounded photoshop brush, and change the settings to make it scatter and then I go back and airbrush slightly around the edges and paint on some darker ones for contrast! I can do a little tutorial or something if you don't understand what I mean x3

You will definitely be seeing more Matilda, she is probably my favourite character of mine to draw :) I'm glad you like her so much!!

Have you ever seen 1982 John Carpenter's The Thing? :) The stomach mouth makes me think of that movie.

I haven't (but I want to!) however, I DO know what scene you mean.

It's a really good movie, it makes me scared to see the remake and how probably horrible it is. Oh didn't say it, but Matilda has a sweet design, both creepy and cute at the same time, which isn't the easiest combo hah. Does she need/does she eat?

Yes she eats! But only with her mouth stomach. She's a doll, so her face is literally just painted on. It can change emotions but the mouth on her head never opens. It just shows the teeth, or is closed completely.
